Patrol Division

The Patrol Division is the backbone of the Doña Ana County Sheriff's Department. A deputy sheriff's duties include serving the community, safeguarding lives and property, protecting the innocent, keeping the peace, and ensuring the rights of all to liberty, equality, and justice. Deputies patrol the county ready to answer 911 calls at a moment's notice, on the lookout for criminal activity, and addressing safety issues. Patrol deputies enforce federal, state, and local laws, and protect the individual citizen's Constitutional rights. Patrol is one of the most dangerous of police duties, but it is necessary for enforcement of the law and deterence to crime.

Traffic Division

The Division is comprised of five deputies specially trained in crash investigation. The Traffic division recently escorted President George W. Bush from the Las Cruces airport to his campaign site and back providing him protection during his entire stay.
