FOUND ITEMS AVAILABLE TO BE CLAIMED

The polls are closed in Doña Ana County, but some voters left souvenirs behind.

From sets of reading glasses and stuffed envelopes of personal papers to driver’s licenses and voter-information cards, a raft of found items has been turned in to the Doña Ana County Special Projects Office for processing through the county’s lost-and-found system.

In cases where the found item includes clear contact information, every effort is being made to contact the owner. Many items – like driver’s licenses, for instance – have only addresses associated with them. Because people move frequently, these items will not be mailed but held in hopes that the rightful owners will call or emails to claim them.

Voters who believe they may have left personal items at a polling site can email input@donaanacounty.org to describe the item(s) lost and leave contact information. Each message left will be returned, and in cases where ownership can be clearly established, arrangements will be made to reunite the owner with his or her property.

Voters without access to email may leave a voice message at (575) 525-5801. Voice messages should be brief, and should include a contact number to facilitate a prompt return call.
